I have designed several events for my current employer, Arizona Christian University; however, the the Homecoming design process was something else, it was a beast. Althought the experience took a lot of effort, it was highly rewarding seeing people interact positively with my work.
This was the first year I worked on the ACU Homecoming branding. As a creative team, we felt it was best to discard the current branding for the Homecoming university event. Our new branding includes lots of red shapes with a new script font called Viktor. We took a lot of inspiration from the University of Illinois Homecoming branding.
This year, we pulled a lot of inspiration from various badges designed for innagural seasons or professional sports championship series. We also continued to develop our identity, making it more iconic and symbolic of Arizona Christian. The new logo used in the 2019 marketing capitalized on visual elements of the Glendale campus such as "the Tower building" and a windsock figure. Another element added this year is the patterned background that shows cultural phrases and icons.
